Each program also contains essential workplace skills, including resume writing and mock interviews, as well as Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) training.

This required foundation course is designed to introduce you to the field of advanced manufacturing. It will cover the various specializations and certifications available, as well as the different careers. It will also help you build a foundation of basic academic and workplace skills, such as critical thinking, following instructions and dependability. Upon completion, you will have determined which career path you wish to pursue within manufacturing.
Valencia’s A.S. degrees prepare you to work in a specialized career field and also transfer to the Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.S.) program offered at some universities, such as the University of Central Florida. Industry-certified professionals may be able to receive credits toward Valencia’s A.S. degree for professional experience.
- A.S. in Drafting and Design Technology
This program is designed to train technicians to assist engineers by translating ideas, rough sketches, specifications and calculations into complete and accurate working drawings. In addition, instruction is given in three Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) courses which prepare the student for employment with companies using computer assisted engineering and design. Potential careers with this degree include: drafting and design technician, mechanical engineering assistant, CADD operator, mechanical drafter, drafting designer and tooling drafter.
- A.S. in Electronics Engineering Technology
This program is designed to produce highly skilled technicians capable of assisting in the design, production, operation and servicing of electronics, optics, photonics, lasers, telecommunication and wireless systems and equipment. Valencia is equipped with special test equipment and advanced laboratories, which provide the latest in hands-on experience. Potential careers with this degree include: electronics technician, fiber optics specialist, telecommunication technician, robotics and simulation technician, and laser specialist.
A bachelor’s degree, combined with professional experience, will enhance opportunities for management positions. Those who complete an A.S. degree may be able to transfer into a related bachelor’s program, including Valencia’s Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology and the Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.S.) program offered at the University of Central Florida and other universities.
